Who Am I
Introduction
My name is Andrew Stiller, but my friends known me as Andy Hat. The name
Andy Hat first appeared while I was at University because I allways used
to wear a black Trillby hat. Even though I have not worn the hat for a
few years I'm still known as Andy Hat to distinguish me from the many other
Andy's in Brighton.
A long time ago in a place not that far away...
I was born at an early age and thrown up in Crowborough. By some miracle,
after serious illness as a child I have finally made it to an adult.
I can best be described as have the perfect face for radio and a great
voice for silent films. I have some how managed to gain the rugged
good looks that normally requires being dragged through a gravel pit but
a rampaging rhino.
I have plenty of luck but unfortunately it is mainly bad luck. My success
with the lovely Brighton ladies is legendary mainly for the lack of it.
While at university I was voted one of the hardest working and most helpful
person in the flat. I was also voted the person least likely to succeed.
Seriously
I was born 12th August 1970 in a small Sussex town called Crowborough.
I spent most of my childhood living in my parent current house in Buxted,
East Sussex.
My parents' present home is a 4 bedroom, three-storey chalet bungalow
in five acres of land. Needless to say I spent most of my childhood either
at school, ill or working in the garden.
I studied Physics and Computing at the University of Sussex from 1988
to 1991.
Then as an extra qualification after finishing my degree I studied
programming and coding in C at Lewes Tertiary College. For further details
of my qualifications please see my C.V.
In these past I have done many jobs ranging from Landscape gardening
to delivery driver and from Plastic bag tester to Computer support. If
you want serious details of the jobs that I have done in the past then
either look at my CV or email me.
What I do
I work at Eurotherm Process Instrumentation Division in Worthing.I work
in their Research & development department testing any software produced
either embedded or PC based. I am responsible for devising test harnesses
for testing both embedded controller and PC based software. Part of my
job is to provide technical support for other computer users in the company.
I also have provided support for a few external organisations and several
private users.
Eurotherm (EPID) make process controllers, recorders and complete process
control systems. They use standard SCADA packages to monitor and control
the large systems they produce.
As part of my job and from previous experience outside work I have
learned many operating systems, office suites and programming languages.
I have experience of many operating systems including UNIX, Windows and
MACOS. I can program in C, FORTRAN, BASIC, VISUAL BASIC and PASCAL. I also
have extensive experience in the use of drawing and photo editing tools
(although at present you couldn't tell from this web site).
Where I live
I first moved down to Brighton ten years ago when I started university
at Sussex University. I briefly moved back to Buxted after finishing my
degree before moving back to Brighton. As I liked Brighton so much when
I was at university and decided to move back as soon as possible.
Brighton is a beautiful friendly town on the South East Coast of England.
Brighton has a relaxed atmosphere and an excellent nightlife. Brighton
is normally full of university students in the autumn and winter. In the
summer it's the turn of the foreign exchange students and day trippers
from London.
For more information on Brighton please see my Links Page.
My social life
My hobbies are walking, listening to music and socialising.
I love walking in the countryside around Sussex and general moving
around meeting new people in town. The music that I enjoy varies from Blues
and small band Jazz to dance and ambient music.
I enjoy meeting new people either as part of my daily life or when
out with my friends. I have a small group of close friends and a large
mob of not so close friends. My three closet friends are two beautiful
and inteligent girls and a short bald bloke all originally from north London.
I am very thankful to my three close friends for helping me through
recent problems that I have had.
Plans for the future
As I love the relaxed atmosphere and have some great friends in Brighton
I plan to buy a flat here. I have already started looking for a place to
buy but I not found anything yet.
I want a varied interesting work with computers. I would like a job
in or close to Brighton probably in either a support or development role
working with other people.
If possible I want to widen my circle of friends while keeping the
three wonderful friends that I already have.
I will continue to party and enjoy life until the day I die.
