Sports massage is deeper and more powerful than relaxation massage and involves firm manipulation of soft muscle tissue, tendons, and ligaments. It speeds up the process of healing in the event of injury but is also of great advantage before sports training to warm up particular muscles and after sports training to prevents knots and tears or simply to soothe over-strained muscles. Just as important for the sportsman is maintenance massage between training sessions which keeps the muscles, tendons, and ligaments supple and rids the body of build-up of waste products like lactic acid. I can also advise you on stretching exercises.
