Hi, and welcome to my home page, thrown together by someone who has no idea how to use HTML, but who does know how to use 'View Source' and cut 'n' paste. Never mind, great things to happen here soon - honest! [Note: the previous statement has been there for over a year. Great things, soon. Honest!] [*Two* years!]
In the mean time, who am I? Well, I live in sunny Brighton, on the south coast of England. I used to be a student here and I now live here permanently. Before moving here I used to live near Epsom, in a small village called Langley Vale which is so small it's just about the only place on the planet without its' own page on the web.
I'm currently working as an Insurance Recoveries Technician for Direct Line Insurance in Croydon. I've been working in the claims department, in a variety of roles, since summer 1992. I'm currently studying for my Certificate of Insurance Practice exams. And in case you were wondering, no I didn't always want to work for an insurance company. I would like to say in my defence that when I recently met someone for the first time they tried to guess what I did for a living - they said either a student or unemployed. I'm kindof proud of that.
Outside work, interests include Role-Playing, Science-Fiction and, of course, computers.
Musical tastes vary enormously, but heavy metal and punk influenced bands tend to crop up a fair amount, as do groups from the '70s. Groups that I've been listening to for a long time that I also have Web pointers for are: Joan Jett, Nine Inch Nails, Ozzy Osbourne and The Ramones.
I'm currently listening to a group called Shonen Knife, an all female, three piece Japanese group. They've got a slightly unusual sound which I'm not too sure if I'll still like in a few months time, but they make a change from the usual formula rubbish on the radio. Their album Let's Knife alternates between punk and bubblegum pop - a few great tracks on it, and a few pretty dire ones as well. Brand New Knife is much more average - nothing stands out as being really great, but it's very easy to listen to. I wouldn't suggest you try to figure out the lyrics on either of them, though :-)
Two local groups worth mentioning are Kaspur and Humbug. It's difficult to describe their music style, they both play a mixture of alternative / indie / punk / metal music. Kaspur are more on the metal end, and Humbug more on the alternative end. Both Kaspur and Humbug have a great sense of humour doing songs such as Kaspur's The Girl With the Tie Dyed Hair and Green Eggs and Ham, and Humbugs Bernard Breslaw and Turnip Wine. They're both well worth seeing live if you happen to be in the Sussex area.
It seems obligatory to provide a picture of yourself on your home page, so here's mine.
As for my vital statistics, I'm just over 4 cubits high, weigh about 415,000 carats, and I was born in 5971 AM (Erisian calendar).
Got a good picture of me now? Good.....
