TRIUMPH STAG - PRE 455R

ENGINE     BODYWORK     UPGRADES      ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Here are a few pictures of my Tahiti Blue 1977 Triumph Stag, pre body restoration. As the restoration takes place, It will be documented thoroughly on this site.
A full size high quality picture is available by clicking any of the below pictures (files are very large however!!).

REAR VIEW - The suspension has been lowered by about 2 inches all round. This has resulted in negative camber on the rear wheels. The front, however is fine! I am having to shorten the bump stops however. The shocks are KONI, and particularly stiff.

INTERIOR DETAIL - I have replaced the carpets with another set in black. I chose not to use
matching grey carpet material, as the carpet portion of the door trims was done in black, and I
did not wish to replace it. Besides, I am a fan of contrasting carpet colour. On my last stag the
interior was all chocolate. I replaced the carpet with a camel colour, and the effect was much
more pleasant than had I chosen to replace it with another chocolate item. I'll let the reader
make up their own mind!

The seat facings are dove grey leather, as is the steering wheel. The seat backs and all other
panelling including the tonneau cover are in dove grey vinyl.

The dashbard is walnut veneer. A dashboard covered in dove grey vinyl came with the car
together with another complete full walnut veneer.

Whilst re-carpeting the car, I noticed traces of yellow paint under the blue  in the interior.
As a result of this, I checked the paint and trim codes. The car was originally yellow with a
black interior!

RIGHT HAND VIEW - Superficial rust is present on the rear wing to sill joint, and the wheelarch
is bubbling badly. The hood and front bumper are taken from another car, and in good
condition.

SIDE VIEW - Note the bubbling rear wheelarches. They have possibly been modified to
accomadate the large Image alloy wheels and 225/55R15 rear tyres! At the top of the sill
where it meets the rear wing is superficially rusty, but not rusted through believe it or not.
Bad painting previously, perhaps? Bodywork Restoration

FRONT VIEW - Note missing grille! This was taken out to assist jackshaft and timing
gear fitment!! Further engine information.
