The eventual aim is to update all maps as completely as possible with records for 2001 onwards, to show the status of Sussex orthopteroids in the first decade of the new millennium. Records shown for boundary squares may pertain to neighbouring counties.

A Nationally Scarce species strongly associated with lowland heathland and bog and therefore a valuable indicator of habitats of conservation importance. Can occur in woodland along heathy rides or in clearings as long as there is adequate sunlight. Occurs over wide areas of the more extensive heaths, such as Iping Common, Ambersham Common and in Ashdown Forest but some colonies are very localised and vulnerable. A small colony recorded by E.C.M. Haes from boggy ground at Coates Common appears to have been lost after the area was cleared to create a pond. Old records from coastal localities may refer to misidentified Platycleis albopunctata, whose nymphs and newly moulted adults may be green in colour.
