Hughes - A Lucky Boy!
|
When Stephen Hughes finally put pen to paper and signed a new contract, Arsenal fans everywhere were relieved that an exciting midfield prospect would not be lost to the club. For Clemmie Burton-Hill, it meant much more. For the sexy young actress who plays wild child Georgina Jacobs in SKY's football soap, Dream Team, is Stephen Hughes' biggest fan, and nominates Stephen as the the person she would most like to do a love scene with. Could this have been the real reason why Hughes finally agreed to a new contract.
Highbury High's Ian Trevett met up with Clemmie at Selhurst Park before the replay against Palace to chat about Arsenal and the Dream Team:
How would you describe Dream Team to someone who has not seen the show:
It's basically a soap based around a fictional Midlands team called Harchester who are stuggling near the bottom of the Premiership. It keeps up to date with what is happening with the Premiership to keep it relevant. The match scenes are really good as they are computer generated using real footage. Some of the football scenes are quite amazing.I'm the show's biggest critic as I'm involved in it, but the ratings are very good.
Your character sounds a bit wild, what with Georgina seducing the star player on the Chairman's desk.
Yeah, she was certainly on the wild side. But more recently she has had more emotional issues to deal with, with her father dying and a miscarriage. But I think she's going to get back to her wild ways soon.
In last month's Total Football, they asked who you would most like to seduce on the chairman's desk.
You replied 'it would have to be the Ice Man, Dennis Bergkamp. He's just God as he strides beautifully across the park.' So you are obviously a big Bergkamp fan.
Yes, I am. Bergkamp is a really incredible player, but I'd change that to Stephen Hughes. I love Stephen Hughes. I'm a fan of all the players - but I'm not sure about the love scenes though!
You also expressed how much you hated Peter Schmeichel. Do you ever get any players on the set at SKY.
It always seems to be Chelsea players. I'm refusing to speak to them at the moment. But they are really nice to me, and I get on really well with them. But after that semi-final I'm avoiding them.
Wasn't Big Ron on the show.
Before he took over at Wednesday he was the Harchester manager (obviously a step down). He can't understand why girls would be interested in football. It just seems really strange to him, but I think I proved to him that I knew what I was talking about. He's a real character, and it was a great experience working with him..
Do you get much football rivalry on the set?
Surprisingly no-one else is that into it. They all like football, but I'm the only fanatic there. My bedroom is like a shrine to Arsenal.
How long have you been supporting Arsenal?
I've been a fan all my life. Both my older brothers are Arsenal fans, so I got into it as well. I've been a season ticket holder in the West Stand for three years now, but there's not much atmosphere. I want to move to the Clock End really.
Didn't Harchester knock Arsenal out of the cup.
I was gutted. I tried to get them to change the script, but they wouldn't. I wasn't happy about that at all. I'm sure the real Arsenal would never go out of the cup so easily.
I did manage to persuade them to include a fair bit of footage of Stephen Hughes though!
Thanks to Clemmie, a real Gooner. Catch the show on SKY 1 at 6pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
And if Stephen Hughes is reading this, I suggest you get on the phone to SKY straight away!
