THE WORLDS FIRST RECYCLED WOOD STORE?

March 15 sees the opening in Brighton of the worlds? first store selling wood "waste"!

The Project has leased a 2000 ft2 unit and is busy converting it into a workshop and wood store.

The premises at 7-8 Regent Street Brighton(off Church Street) is, we believe the first ever outlet dedicated to reducing waste and saving resources from landfill by selling nothing but wood rescued from the waste stream. It will stock tonnes of wood - including planks and lengths of every dimension, along with a large range of sheet materials, doors, window frames and boxes and crates of every description - all for sale amazingly cheap.

This crucial expansion from our original site at Stanmer represents phase II of the Project and its success will ensure the long -term viability of our venture.

Having this dry, secure space will enable us to increase collections (see "site collections" below) and provide a local source of low -cost, good quality timber.

Join us at Regent Street for a celebration drink Monday March 15 from noon to 6.00pm.

MORE CUSTOMERS

The list of regular customers lengthens week by week and includes Brighton & Hove Council, West Sussex County Council, The Bodyshop, Seeboard, Sussex University and many more.

WHAT WE?RE ABOUT?

. The Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project has been set up to reclaim and re-use some of the 1000?s of tonnes of timber currently land-filled in the Brighton & hove area every year.

. We are a self-supporting, not-for-profit group committed to bringing genuine environmental benefit to the Brighton & Hove Community.

HOLLINGBURY RECYCLING POINT

You might have seen the recent Evening Argus coverage on the work we did at the above recycling point . The fences, installed to make the site look tidier, were commissioned by Brighton & Hove Council and made entirely from wood taken out of the waste stream - further proof that too much perfectly reusable material is being dumped.

SITE COLLECTIONS -progress report

Since launching our unique site collection service at the end of last year, there has been steady growth in the number of organisations that have added timber to their list of recyclables.

As well as building and demolition firms, all sorts of companies are approaching us to arrange collections of ?waste? wood. Once our new premises is fully operational we will be able to further increase the amount of timber we accept and re-use.
